Ikat is a celebrated weaving art where the warp, weft or both are tied-dyed before weaving to create designs on the finished fabric. The natural movement during weaving creates a feathered edge pattern that characterizes the hallmark of Ikat. Vriksh, an alternate design studio based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha set up by textile designer, Gunjan Jain who solely works with handloom weavers and with natural materials. When Vriksh began its work in Odisha six years ago, the region?›ƒ?ªƒ?›s under-explored and under-appreciated range of fabulous textiles were a key motivation.
